Requests/Suggestions?

I'm always open to new ideas. Do you have an idea for a band that I should play on SPSM? Let me know; leave a comment here, or call me/instant message me when I'm on the air!

2/18/09 and 3/3/09

I made today's set with the intention of keeping a rhythm going for as long as I could in each block of music. I think I did pretty well, despite a well-meaning EAS interruption from our good friends at the National Weather Service. Here's the playlist:

30. Stereolab - Brackhage

The theme of the 18th's show was music of epic proportions. I intentionally chose songs that were 10 minutes or longer to showcase the different kinds of truly bizzare sounds that the "experimental" label encompasses - sounds that typically aren't fit for airplay and only someone in my time slot could really get away with. The Black Dice song, for instance, is 15 minutes of pure field sounds - hardly "music" at all. Here's the lineup from Feb. 18, shamelessly ripped from my playlist webpages at kzsc.org:

12:40am Manitoba “Sundialing” from Andorra CD ALBUM (Merge 2007)
12:44am Beck “Waitin On a Train” from Stereopathic Soul Manure CD ALBUM (Flipside 1994)
